What a surprise and delight when I met John Schaub, a model train maker in Arlington. He responded to my ad for model boat repair. Boats, trains, all the same to him. The world of miniatures always fascinates me. I have a number of boats from my father's collection. No idea about any of them. This boat pictured here is a packet boat. I found pictures of others. These boats primarily move goods and a few people, have an interesting style and have many stories to tell. John outfitted this one with people doing various things: the captain, a pilot, sisters, single man, deck hands and a seabird. Who are they all, where are they from and where are they going.
